About me and my practice

I am a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist, Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and UKCP-approved Supervisor working online.

I work relationally and offer a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space to explore difficult feelings and understand underlying patterns in relationships. We work together in the here and now, which isnt to say that you cant talk about your past or future, but how you experience that will be your present subjective experience. By supporting you in your process of exploration by staying with your experience in the moment feelings, thoughts, body sensations, and behaviours we can reach a deeper understanding, awareness and meaning.

Gestalt is a lively, spontaneous and creative therapy. It isnt a set of mechanistic tools, designed to get you from A to B. Were all unique and youre the expert of your experience, and as such, rather than presuming to tell you what you should or shouldnt do, I will help you to discover what feels right for you. This approach promotes experiential learning and experimentation over cognitive insights or interpretation, and in doing so can support you to access and use your own self-knowledge. Awareness is in itself curative and growth-producing. It enables you to understand the ways in which you contribute to your own circumstances, and so develop creative solutions for difficulties you may be facing, increasing your repertoire of choice and possibilities in the moment.

I work with clients on a weekly basis as this supports the relational nature of the work. I offer online sessions, working with individuals or couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period.

The sessions last 50 minutes. Once we have arranged a time and date for our sessions then this will be the same each week.

Experience

I have over eleven years of clinical experience in various settings including schools, charities and private practice, working with young people (10+) and adults (individuals, couples and groups).

I am experienced in working with clients facing a variety of issues including fertility, PMDD, anxiety, anger, depression, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, health-related issues, loss, transition, relationships, complex trauma, sexual abuse, physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, displacement, sexuality and sexual identity, gender and gender identity, self-harm, substance misuse and abuse, addiction, and eating disorders.

Additional Information

Coming to therapy can be the first step towards change and growth. It is a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with an empathetic, non-judgmental qualified therapist. Over time therapy can help you see your life from a different perspective, identify changes that could be made, and help you to accept and move on from certain situations or emotional states.

Paying attention to the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship, through empathic attunement, understanding, meaning-making and co-learning, we can work together towards greater self-understanding, self-acceptance and the freedom to choose the way you want to live your life.

Initial Consultation

If you would like to give it a try please get in touch and we can arrange an initial session. This session will be a bit different to other sessions, allowing us to meet and get to know each other, work through any questions you may have and also discuss your expectations.

During the session, I will also ask you about what has brought you to therapy and some other questions to help me identify the most appropriate way for us to work together. Hopefully, by the end of the session, you will have a good sense of if therapy is for you and if you would like to proceed.
